About the role#
This position is the second craft level within the Relay Technician hierarchy at Duke Energy. You will work on relay construction and maintenance activities. The role involves assisting higher level technicians and leading lower level technicians on smaller, less complex tasks. You are expected to grow your technical skills and eventually work with more independence.
What you'll do#
- Assist higher level technicians with relay construction and maintenance.
- Lead lower level technicians during smaller, less complex activities.
- Maintain accurate records and files for all work performed.
- Develop complex technical skills to support independent work.
- Represent the company professionally and support organizational goals.
- Participate in after-hours work and call-out rotations.
What you'll need#
- Previous internship or co-op experience at Duke Energy.
- A valid State Driver’s License.
- Ability to pass background checks for NERC, CIP, and Nuclear compliance.
- Demonstrated ability to pass a panel review by meeting or exceeding Learner Relay Tech requirements.
- Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. for 100 feet.
- A maximum weight of 275 lbs. to ensure safe use of weight-rated equipment.
- A permanent residence within approximately 45 minutes of the base location.
- Pursuit of a degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering.
