About the role#
This internship supports the Duke Energy Corporate Archives archivist. You will gain hands-on experience in archival organization, preservation, and information management. The role is designed to help you apply your knowledge of history and archival fundamentals in a corporate setting.
What you'll do#
- Organize, prepare, rehouse, and catalog donations.
- Scan photograph negatives, prints, and other materials to preservation standards.
- Review, update, and edit the collection management database.
- Perform stack management tasks.
- Learn about the function of archives within a business environment.
- Develop research skills for identifying unique archival material.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in a History-related discipline (such as Art History, Museum Studies, or Library & Information Science).
- A cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher.
- Graduation date set for after August 2027.
- Previous internship or co-op experience with Duke Energy.
- Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) for the 10-12 week summer session.
- Official transcripts submitted with your application.
- Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
- Legal authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

- Location: Kings Mountain, North Carolina.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Term: Summer 2027.
- Travel: 5-15% travel required.
- Requirements: A valid driver's license and reliable transportation are necessary for this role.
