About the role#
The Archives and Art Student Assistant supports the library department by helping staff and contractors manage the transfer of collections to a new building. This role focuses on the stewardship of archival and art materials through research, inventory management, and physical relocation. The position is on-site and requires a commitment of 4 to 5 hours per week, scheduled between 9:00 am and 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.
What you'll do#
- Create a high-level inventory of archives and art collections.
- Identify items and provide appraisal recommendations.
- Move archival and art materials across campus.
- Rebox archival materials.
- Provide general support for the archives and art department.
- Assist with research questions from users.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a student at Luther Seminary.
- Experience with or a willingness to learn about art and archival collections.
- General knowledge of or a willingness to learn about North American Lutheran history.
- Ability to lift and move boxes weighing up to 30 pounds.
- Proficiency in Microsoft and Google environments, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
- Commitment to the mission and vision of Luther Seminary.

- Physical requirements: Regular movement between campus buildings and exposure to dust or mold in an indoor environment.
