Head Resident-Student Only Position

About the role#

The Head Resident serves as a liaison between students living on campus and Luther Seminary staff. This role provides community leadership, acts as a resource for maintaining a positive living and learning environment, and serves as a point of contact for seminary policies and referral services. The Head Resident is required to reside on campus for the duration of the appointment and serves as part of the on-call team for after-hours emergencies.

What you'll do#

• Plan and implement community-building activities each semester.
• Act as an active and respectful community leader.
• Assist students in submitting maintenance and helpdesk requests.
• Act as the primary point of contact for health concerns, providing referrals as necessary.
• Coordinate any extended time away in advance with the on-call team.
• Oversee residential check-ins, walk-throughs, check-outs, and housing orientations.
• Respond to emergencies involving the health, security, and safety of students.
• Maintain a professional demeanor and protect the privacy of confidential student information.

What you'll need#

• Maintain full-time student status at Luther Seminary in good academic and behavioral standing.
• Demonstrated leadership skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively across different cultures.
• General knowledge of Luther Seminary services, policies, and procedures.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with diverse constituents.
• Commitment to a regular work schedule, including required evening and weekend availability.
