About the role#
This internship provides experience across Duke Energy functional areas including Corporate Communications, Public Affairs, Stakeholder Engagement, and Regulatory Affairs and Policy. You will join the Carolinas Public Affairs team to support legislative, regulatory, and public affairs strategies. This position is full-time for 12 weeks during the summer of 2027.
What you'll do#
- Manage media strategy and communications consulting.
- Support executive positioning efforts.
- Develop and implement integrated, strategic communications plans.
- Work within the Corporate Communications team to support broader public affairs goals.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor's or advanced degree program in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75.
- A graduation date no earlier than August 2027.
- A valid driver's license.
- Ability to work full-time, Monday through Friday.
- Submission of an unofficial transcript and relevant written work samples.

- Locations: Charlotte, NC and Raleigh, NC.
- Work Modality: Both remote and on-site work.
- Travel: 5-15% travel required.
