About the role#
This position is for current Duke Energy interns or co-ops looking to transition into an Environmental Science Technician II role. You will work under general supervision to support environmental and engineering programs through data analysis and sample processing. The work involves both laboratory settings and field environments, requiring adherence to strict procedures, regulatory standards, and audit requirements.
What you'll do#
- Collect, prepare, and analyze environmental samples to support technical studies.
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain specialized laboratory and field equipment.
- Troubleshoot and repair equipment as needed.
- Use technology to compile and manipulate data for formal reports.
- Perform routine tasks while learning to solve problems independently.
- Handle communication and implement work unit procedures.
What you'll need#
- Must be a current or former Duke Energy intern or co-op.
- Ability to work lawfully in the U.S. without immigration sponsorship.
- Pursuing or holding a degree in Environmental Engineering, Chemistry, or Biology.
- Prior experience in a laboratory or technical setting is preferred.
- Understanding of environmental regulatory compliance, analytical chemistry, and quality assurance principles is a plus.

- Travel: 5-15% expected.
