About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027 based in our Portland, Oregon office. You will provide engineering support across our various practice areas, including Civil and Land Development, Transportation and Structures, Water and Environmental Services, or Construction-Related Services. This position requires on-site attendance.
What you'll do#
- Research and visit project sites to document existing conditions.
- Perform engineering calculations to support design projects.
- Create manual or AutoCAD drawings.
- Coordinate with government agencies and clients to secure design information and approvals.
- Manage project correspondence and keep accurate records.
- Visit construction sites to monitor work quality and progress.
- Assist with writing and editing construction specifications.
- Calculate bid quantities and estimate construction costs.
What you'll need#
- Completion of one to two years of college-level coursework toward a baccalaureate degree in Civil Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project software.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD is highly desirable.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions, analyze journals, and solve problems using geometry, trigonometry, and statistical concepts.
- Strong communication skills to present information to clients, the public, and co-workers.
- A valid driver license for business travel.
