About the role#
DOWL is seeking a Water Resources Intern for the summer of 2027. This full-time, paid position offers mentorship for students interested in hydrology, hydraulics, and hydraulic structures. You will work on a variety of engineering projects while gaining hands-on experience in the civil engineering industry.
What you'll do#
- Assist with field investigations, cost estimating, and technical report writing.
- Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses using software such as HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, and HY-8.
- Use GIS applications to determine watershed characteristics and create map exhibits.
- Support other engineering disciplines including geotechnical, transportation, and structural teams.
- Participate in final design tasks and construction inspection.
What you'll need#
- Completion of one to two years of college-level coursework toward a baccalaureate degree in civil engineering.
- A valid driver license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts like statistics, probability, and trigonometry.
- Prior work experience in construction or civil engineering is helpful.
- Experience with ARC GIS and AutoCAD Civil 3D is highly desirable.

- This is an on-site position.
- The work environment involves a mix of office duties and intermittent field work at construction sites.
