About the role#
This is a full-time, paid summer internship based in Phoenix, Arizona. You will join our team to provide engineering support across various practice areas, including Civil and Land Development, Transportation and Structures, Water and Environmental Services, or Construction-Related Services. This position is on-site.
What you'll do#
- Research and visit project sites to document existing conditions.
- Run engineering calculations for design projects.
- Create manual or AutoCAD drawings.
- Coordinate with government agencies, clients, and other professionals to gather information and approvals.
- Manage project correspondence and maintain records.
- Visit construction sites to track progress and monitor quality.
- Assist with the drafting and editing of construction specifications.
- Calculate construction bid quantities and estimate project costs.
What you'll need#
- Completion of one to two years of college-level coursework toward a bachelor degree in civil engineering.
- A valid driver license.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Project software.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD.
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts, including probability, statistics, geometry, and trigonometry.
- Experience applying fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical tasks.
- Ability to read and interpret technical journals and diagrams to solve problems and draw conclusions.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with clients, co-workers, and the public.
- Prior experience in construction or civil engineering is helpful but not required.
