About the role#
The Materials and Inspections group is part of the Fleet Programs and Components organization within Nuclear Engineering and Fuel. This team oversees technical programs for the nuclear fleet, including the North Anna, Surry, Millstone, and VC Summer power stations. You will work on governance, oversight, and performance scope for various programs such as Flow Accelerated Corrosion, Steam Generators, Reactor Vessel Integrity, Welding, and the Materials Laboratory.
What you'll do#
- Complete project assignments tailored to your completed coursework.
- Take on tasks mentored by experienced engineers.
- Support programs covering areas like Thermal Fatigue, Boric Acid Corrosion Control, ASME Section XI, and Underground Piping and Tank Integrity.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program at a 4-year college or university.
- Major in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-Accredited), Materials Science and Engineering, Welding Engineering, or Metallurgical Engineering.
- Expected graduation date between Fall 2028 and Fall 2029.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong professional ethics and an inquisitive nature.
- Ability to work effectively in a team or independently.
- Solid engineering skills appropriate for your grade level.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, is preferred.
- Knowledge of engineering software like Matlab is a plus.
