About the role#
As a Transmission Line Engineering Intern, you will apply engineering theories and practices to support the design and modification of transmission facilities. This role focuses on creating safe, reliable, and cost-effective designs for high voltage projects. You will work within a team environment while also managing your own tasks and seeking information independently.
What you'll do#
- Create detailed designs for high voltage transmission line projects, including new builds, facility modifications, fiber installations, and relocations.
- Provide field support for construction activities.
- Conduct site visits and participate in project meetings.
- Coordinate with internal departments such as Project Management, Construction, Supply Chain, Permitting, Real Estate, and Transmission O&M.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree program for Civil or Mechanical Engineering.
- A GPA of 3.0 or higher.
- An expected graduation date in Fall 2028 or 2029.
- Strong time management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work well in a team and seek out knowledge on your own.
- Experience with AutoCAD is a plus.
Location & details#
- This is an on-site, full-time internship located in Glen Allen, Virginia.
- The position operates on a rolling term basis.
- Work involves up to 25% travel and potential exposure to outdoor conditions, including heat, cold, and noise, for up to 25% of the time.
