About the role#
This is a paid, full-time co-op position for the Winter 2027 term. You will work within our Power Generation plants to support the maintenance and operation of electrical and instrumentation equipment. This role is on-site and requires physical work, including climbing, bending, lifting heavy equipment, and standing for long periods. You may occasionally work outdoors in various weather conditions.
What you'll do#
- Maintain, install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical and instrumentation equipment.
- Work with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), motor controllers, smart field devices, and Distributed Control System (DCS) controls.
- Collaborate with qualified I&C journeymen on power plant equipment maintenance.
- Use drawings, prints, and CAD systems.
- Partner with Operations personnel to assist with power plant equipment operation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College in a program leading to an associate degree.
- Major in Electronics Engineering Technology, Industrial Electronics Technology, or General Technology (Mechatronics or Industrial Maintenance).
- Permission from your Program Coordinator or Division Dean.
- A minimum 3.0 overall grade point average.
- A graduation date in 2027 or 2028.
- A valid driver's license with a safe driving history.

- Compensation: $22.00 - $24.00 per hour.
