About the role#
The CBIST Communications Assistant supports community engagement and communications for the College of Business, Information Studies, and Technology. This is an on-campus position requiring approximately 10 hours of work per week. The role is paid at $15.00 per hour.
What you'll do#
- Manage social media accounts for CBIST and its schools, including the Brennan School of Business, School of Information Studies, and School of Innovation and Technology.
- Create content for Facebook, Instagram, and X.
- Monitor social channels and respond to messages.
- Coordinate with other student workers to maintain a consistent voice across platforms.
- Help the Director of CBIST Communications gather information for newsletters and external communications.
- Write content for the Butler Center blog.
- Market events for CBIST and its associated schools.
- Assist with the planning and execution of lectures and professional development events.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as an undergraduate or graduate student in the Brennan School of Business, School of Information Studies, or School of Innovation and Technology.
- Proficiency in web-based research and social media.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, specifically Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Skills in at least one digital graphic design platform.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to stay organized and manage time effectively.
- A self-motivated work ethic and a personable demeanor.
- Ability to lift and move boxes, books, and marketing materials.

- This role is based in River Forest, Illinois.
