About the role#
The Sound Lab Student Assistant supports the technical and operational needs of the music department at DigiPen. This position involves direct involvement in campus events, equipment management, and facility maintenance. This role is open to currently matriculated students in good academic standing. Candidates must reside in Washington state.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the setup and execution of live sound events on campus and occasionally at off-campus music events.
- Clean, maintain, secure, and organize music classrooms, sound labs, and recording studios.
- Support music faculty with classroom needs.
- Manage equipment checkout requests for the sound lab.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues within the sound lab and studio environments.
- Maintain computer music workstations, including audio and MIDI peripherals.
What you'll need#
- Audio engineering experience and a desire to learn new technologies.
- Strong listening skills and musical ears.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience maintaining hardware and software for Mac and PC platforms.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations.
- Ability to lift more than 40 pounds and perform physical tasks like stooping, kneeling, or crouching.
- Availability to work evenings and weekends.
- Live sound reinforcement and sound mixing experience is a strong plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington.
- Term: Fall 2026 through Winter 2027 (August 31, 2026, to April 30, 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Hours: Up to 20 hours per week.
- Eligibility: Applicants must be current DigiPen students with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5. Students may not work during scheduled class times.
