About the role#
The Sound Lab Assistant supports the music department by maintaining facilities and facilitating live events on the DigiPen campus. This position is open to current, matriculated students who maintain good academic standing. This is a paid, part-time role requiring 20 hours of work per week, with availability needed during evenings and weekends.
What you'll do#
- Set up and execute live sound events on campus and at off-campus music events.
- Clean, maintain, secure, and organize music classrooms, sound labs, and recording studios.
- Assist music professors with instructional needs.
- Manage equipment checkout requests for the sound lab.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues within the sound lab and studios, including computer music workstations, audio, and MIDI peripherals.
What you'll need#
- Audio engineering experience and a desire to learn new technologies.
- Strong listening skills and musical ears.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience maintaining hardware and software for Mac and PC computers.
- Ability to remain calm and focused in stressful situations.
- Ability to lift more than 40 pounds and perform physical tasks like pushing, pulling, stooping, or kneeling.
- Live sound reinforcement and sound mixing experience is a strong plus.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington. You must reside within the state of Washington to perform this role.
- Term: Fall 2026 through Winter 2027 (August 31, 2026, to April 30, 2027).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Note: Students may not work during any time they have a scheduled class.
