About the role#
The Teaching Assistant (TA) for DES-270-A User Research I supports the instructor in facilitating a productive learning environment. This position involves assisting with classroom operations, providing academic support to students, and handling grading responsibilities. This role is open to current, matriculated students at DigiPen Institute of Technology who have successfully completed DES-270 with a grade of B or better.
What you'll do#
- Grade student work, including lab reports, while providing constructive feedback and grading recommendations to the instructor.
- Assist students during labs and scheduled office hours, including meeting with students online if required.
- Support classroom operations, such as equipment setup, running slide decks, and facilitating student presentations.
- Track and report hours worked and attend weekly meetings with the instructor for performance feedback.
What you'll need#
- Proven proficiency with the DES-270 course material.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide professional critique.
- A positive attitude toward learning, with a willingness to mentor fellow students and help them succeed.
- Punctuality, reliability, and the ability to work independently.
- Access to a laptop during course time.
- Preferred majors include Psychology, Data Science, Graphic Design, and Communications.
- Good academic standing with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington. Student workers must reside within the State of Washington.
- Term: Fall 2026 (August 31 – December 3, 2026).
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Hours: 15 hours per week.
- Compensation: $17.13 – $18.25 per hour, based on the number of terms worked at DigiPen.
- Note: Students are not permitted to work during any time they have a scheduled class.
