The Teaching Assistant (TA) for DES-270-B User Research I supports the instructor in facilitating a productive learning environment. This role involves assisting with classroom operations, providing mentorship to students, and ensuring consistent grading standards. TAs work closely with the instructor to track student progress and provide feedback throughout the Fall 2026 term.
What you'll do#
- Grade student work, lab reports, and assignments, providing clear feedback and recommendations to the instructor.
- Assist students during labs and scheduled office hours, including online meetings when necessary.
- Facilitate classroom activities, such as setting up equipment, running slide decks, and managing student presentations.
- Maintain consistent grading standards and ensure the timely delivery of graded materials.
- Meet weekly with the instructor for performance feedback and duty coordination.
- Track and report hours worked accurately.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a matriculated student at DigiPen Institute of Technology.
- Proven proficiency with the DES-270 course material (having passed with a B or better is preferred).
- A positive attitude, a willingness to help others succeed, and the ability to act as a mentor.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to provide professional, constructive critique.
- Reliability, punctuality, and the ability to work independently.
- Access to a laptop during course hours.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 and good academic standing.
Location & details#
- Location: Redmond, Washington. You must reside within the State of Washington to perform this work.
- Term: August 31 – December 3, 2026.
- Work Modality: On-site. Full availability to attend lectures (Monday 2:00–3:20 p.m. and Thursday 2:00–3:50 p.m.) and labs is strongly preferred.
- Hours: Approximately 15 hours per week.
- Compensation: $17.13 – $18.25 per hour, depending on experience at the institution.
- Note: Students are not permitted to work during any time they have a scheduled class.
