About the role#
As a Software Developer Intern at Dayforce, you will join an engineering team to contribute to enterprise-scale cloud software. You will work alongside experienced developers, test engineers, product managers, and UX designers to gain hands-on experience across the entire software development lifecycle. You will receive mentorship while contributing to design, development, testing, and delivery, with the opportunity to take on increasing ownership of your work.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software features and solutions.
- Write clean, readable, and well-tested code.
- Work cross-functionally with team members to deliver high-quality product experiences.
- Contribute to new product capabilities and maintain existing functionality.
- Investigate software defects, perform root-cause analysis, and drive resolutions.
- Develop and maintain automated tests, including unit and integration tests.
- Participate in technical, design, and architectural discussions.
- Work with technologies such as APIs, databases, cloud services, and web applications.
- Contribute to engineering practices, tooling, and process improvements.
- Explore emerging technologies and continuously learn new tools and approaches.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Programming experience from coursework, personal projects, internships, hackathons, or open-source contributions.
- Familiarity with languages such as C#, Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Understanding of programming fundamentals, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving.
- Basic knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with software development fundamentals including debugging, testing, and version control.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in an agile team.
- Strong communication skills and a sense of ownership for building high-quality software.

- Term: Winter 2027 (January 2027 - August 2027).
- Duration: 8 months.
- Modality: Remote.
- Commitment: Full-time (37.5 - 40 hours weekly).
- Compensation: CAD 28.2 - 32.3 hourly.
