About the role#
The System Architecture group is looking for a micro-intern to build a web interface for Showtime, our end-to-end integration platform. This project aims to improve the usability and accessibility of the platform for our organization. You will work alongside senior engineers to define project scope, design the interface, and integrate it with existing services. This role provides direct experience with the full software development lifecycle, from initial requirements to the final demonstration of your work.
What you'll do#
- Learn the workflows and technical interfaces of Showtime.
- Work with senior engineers to gather and clarify user needs.
- Define an achievable project scope based on specific workflows.
- Design and build an intuitive web interface.
- Integrate your interface with existing Showtime REST endpoints.
- Apply usability principles throughout the development process.
- Use standard engineering practices, including source control, testing, and documentation.
- Incorporate feedback from prospective users.
- Present your application and share project outcomes or recommendations.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a computer science, computer engineering, information systems, or related technical program.
- Experience building a web application through coursework, projects, or employment.
- Working knowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript or TypeScript.
- Experience with a modern web framework or library.
- Basic understanding of HTTP, REST APIs, JSON, and front-end to back-end integration.
- Familiarity with Git source control.
- The ability to break down open-ended problems into manageable tasks.
- A strong interest in learning new technologies and understanding how software components connect.
- Preferred: Experience integrating web interfaces with APIs, exposure to CI/CD, and experience applying UX principles.

- This position is based on-site at our headquarters in Boston, Massachusetts.
- This is a paid internship.
- This opportunity is open only to currently enrolled MIT students.
