About the role#
As a Software Developer in Test Intern at Dayforce, you will join an engineering team to contribute to the development of enterprise-scale cloud software. You will work alongside Software Developers, Test Engineers, Product Managers, and UX Designers to gain hands-on experience throughout the software development lifecycle. You will receive mentorship while being encouraged to ask questions, learn new technologies, and progressively take ownership of your tasks.
What you'll do#
- Design, develop, test, and maintain software features and solutions.
- Write clean, readable, maintainable, and well-tested code.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to deliver high-quality product experiences.
- Investigate software defects, contribute to root-cause analysis, and drive issues to resolution.
- Develop and maintain automated tests, including unit and integration testing.
- Work with technologies such as APIs, databases, cloud services, and web applications.
- Participate in code reviews, technical discussions, Agile ceremonies, and team demos.
- Contribute to engineering practices, tooling, and development process improvements.
- Help ensure software can be reliably built and delivered through modern pipelines.
- Explore emerging technologies, including AI-powered development tools.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field.
- Programming experience gained through coursework, personal projects, internships, or open-source contributions.
- Familiarity with programming languages such as C#, Java, Python, C++, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Understanding of programming fundamentals, object-oriented programming, data structures, algorithms, and problem-solving.
- Basic understanding of relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with software development fundamentals, including debugging, testing, and version control.
- Strong analytical skills with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within an agile team.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong sense of ownership.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time remote internship for the Winter 2027 term (January 2027 to August 2027).
- Full-time availability of 37.5 to 40 hours per week is required.
- This position is paid.
