About the role#
David Zwirner is seeking a Research & Exhibitions Intern to support the Research & Exhibitions team. This role is intended for individuals with a strong interest in art research, writing, editing, and curatorial practice. Preference is given to applicants with graduate degrees in art history or related fields, those currently enrolled in such programs, or recent college graduates with direct experience in gallery, museum, or contemporary art research.
What you'll do#
- Catalogue and document provenance for gallery inventory, including library and archival research.
- Conduct independent research using catalogues and online resources to compile lists of comparable works.
- Assist team members with research-intensive exhibition projects.
- Research and write brief contextual texts on selected artists and artworks.
- Gather checklists for external exhibitions featuring gallery artists and assist with building artist CVs and narrative biographies.
- Support the management of reference libraries, including registering new books, pulling books for viewings, scanning texts, and reshelving.
What you'll need#
- Strong interest in art research and curatorial practices.
- Knowledge of twentieth-century and contemporary art.
- Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a collaborative environment.
- Strong time-management skills and a detail-oriented nature.
Location & details#
- Location: New York, NY.
- Term: Fall 2026 (September 14th to December 11th, 2026).
- Schedule: 10AM to 6PM, 3 to 5 days per week.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: Paid at $17 per hour.
- Eligibility: Candidates must be residents of NY, NJ, or CT.
