About the role#
As an Aero-Thermal Engineering Intern, you will help improve the performance and efficiency of next-generation turbomachinery. You will use high-fidelity simulation, physics-based modeling, and data-driven analysis to shape design decisions. By connecting simulation results with test data, you will help improve accuracy and sustainability in engineering solutions. You will work alongside experienced engineers on research and development projects.
What you'll do#
- Build aerodynamic and air-solid models from compressor concepts.
- Run high-fidelity CFD simulations to evaluate performance and understand flow behavior.
- Compare simulation results with laboratory test data to validate designs.
- Use Python or MATLAB, including AI or machine learning approaches, to analyze results.
- Collaborate with the engineering team on simulation tasks and broader assignments.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Master’s or PhD program in Mechanical Engineering, Fluid Mechanics, Heat Transfer, Turbomachinery, or a related field. Final-year Bachelor’s students will also be considered.
- Hands-on experience or coursework in CFD using tools such as ANSYS, CFX, or Fluent.
- Basic CAD modeling skills.
- Working knowledge of Python or MATLAB.
- Interest in applying AI or machine learning to engineering problems.
- Solid foundation in thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and heat transfer.
- Ability to work 20 hours per week.
Location & details#
- This is a paid internship.
- The role is based on-site in Tallahassee, Florida.
