About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will transition your academic learning into real-world practice to prepare for a Pharmacist role. You will work under the direction of your preceptor and district leadership to complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation. This role focuses on store, district, and regional operations, deepening your understanding of patient safety, quality assurance, and professional standards.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation.
- Assist the pharmacy team with safe, prompt, and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care.
- Counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Perform basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver patient health care services including immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Obtain Technician Immunizer status and educate patients on vaccines.
- Comply with all federal, state, and local laws, as well as company policies regarding patient privacy and controlled substances.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure within 120 days of graduation.
- Must possess, or be in the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong mathematical reasoning, problem resolution, and communication skills.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations in the market as needed.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
