About the role#
As a Graduate Pharmacy Intern, you will transition your academic training into real-world practice. This role prepares you for a future pharmacist position by immersing you in retail pharmacy operations. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap within 120 days of graduation, focusing on store, district, and regional workflows. You will work under the guidance of preceptors and leaders to deepen your knowledge of patient safety, error prevention, and professional standards.
What you'll do#
- Support pharmacy teams to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled safely, accurately, and promptly.
- Follow standard operating procedures at all workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Provide caring service by answering medical questions, offering counseling, and taking telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Assist with patient health by delivering services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, including educating patients and obtaining informed consent.
- Complete inventory activities like cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members to share best practices.
- Travel to different stores within the market to work shifts as needed to meet business requirements.
What you'll need#
- PharmD graduate of a U.S. accredited program prior to beginning the training program.
- Ability to obtain pharmacist licensure within the required timeframe per state guidelines.
- Must possess or be in the process of obtaining valid intern or technician licensure.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to maintain regular, predictable attendance including nights and weekends.
- Strong focus and attention to detail, with the ability to pivot quickly between tasks and verify prescription accuracy.
- Mathematical skills to solve problems related to medication dispensing.
- Ability to remain mobile for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs.
