About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. You will gain experience across store, district, and regional operations while supporting the pharmacy team in delivering patient care.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap, including Key Learning Experiences and time with district leadership.
- Assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately.
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at workstations like production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by offering counseling, fielding medical questions, and soliciting medical history.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and facilitate medication changes where allowed.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, such as cycle counts and putting away medication deliveries.
- Comply with federal, state, and local laws, and protect patient privacy.
- Deliver patient health care services, including point-of-care testing and immunizations.
- Complete Technician Immunizer training and support vaccine administration.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to complete required training within a designated timeframe.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market as needed.
