About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between your pharmacy school education and real-world clinical practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap, gaining hands-on experience in store and district operations. This role is designed to prepare you for future responsibilities as a pharmacist by immersing you in daily pharmacy workflows and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Support the pharmacy team in daily operations to ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Apply pharmacy school learning to practice by following company standard operating procedures at every workstation.
- Provide caring service to patients, including fielding medical questions and offering counseling under pharmacist supervision.
- Facilitate medication changes and take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers.
- Deliver patient health services, such as immunizations and point-of-care testing, where permitted by law.
- Educate patients on vaccine importance and monitor for potential adverse reactions.
- Assist with inventory tasks, including cycle counts, returns, and processing medication deliveries.
- Provide coaching and mentoring to team members as you gain experience.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or acceptance to an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to work a part-time, on-site schedule including nights and weekends.
- Preferred: At least one year of experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting.
- Preferred: Ability to become immunization certified and proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
