About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. You will work under the direction of a preceptor to complete a comprehensive training roadmap. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations as you prepare for future responsibilities as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Complete a comprehensive training roadmap including Key Learning Experiences.
- Assist the pharmacy team with prescription fulfillment at various workstations including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Complete basic inventory activities such as cycle counts, medication deliveries, and returns.
- Administer vaccines if you are licensed and certified as a Technician Immunizer.
- Communicate with prescribers to clarify prescriptions or facilitate medication changes.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into or active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Possession of, or the process of obtaining, valid intern or technician licensure.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to remain mobile for extended periods, reach, stoop, and lift up to 20 pounds.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to pivot between tasks to meet patient needs.
