About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will bridge the gap between classroom learning and real-world practice. This role focuses on preparing you for a future Pharmacist position by immersing you in pharmacy operations under the direction of a preceptor. You will follow a comprehensive training roadmap, participate in key learning experiences, and assist the team in delivering care to patients.
What you'll do#
- Complete a structured training roadmap to build clinical and operational skills.
- Operate pharmacy workstations, including production, pick-up, drive-thru, and drop-off.
- Ensure safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following company procedures.
- Support patient health by offering immunizations and other services.
- Field medical questions, clarify prescriptions with prescribers, and facilitate medication changes under supervision.
- Maintain pharmacy compliance with laws, regulations, and standard operating procedures.
- Perform inventory activities such as cycle counts, returns, and medication stocking.
- Provide coaching and training to pharmacy team members.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions during immunization support.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining one.
- Ability to complete all required training within the designated timeframe.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including availability for nights and weekends.
- Strong active listening, mathematical reasoning, and problem-resolution skills.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks and pivot quickly between responsibilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to travel to different store locations within the market as needed.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
