About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your classroom learning to real-world practice. You will complete a comprehensive training roadmap designed to prepare you for a future role as a Pharmacist. This role provides an overview of store, district, and regional operations while you work under the direction of a preceptor. You will assist the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly and patients receive accurate, timely care.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations to help Pharmacists and Technicians improve patient health.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care during interactions.
- Offer to counsel and field medical questions under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and call them to clarify information.
- Provide in-the-moment coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and returns-to-stocks.
- Deliver patient health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing where allowable.
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status.
- Monitor for and respond to adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or acceptance into an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Ability to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- One or more years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
