About the role#
As a Respiratory Therapy Extern at Jefferson, you will support the respiratory care team by ensuring equipment is ready for use and managing essential supplies. This role involves working under the supervision of the Technical Director to maintain the operational standards of the department.
What you'll do#
- Disassemble, wash, disinfect, sterilize, and reassemble respiratory equipment according to infection control policies.
- Ensure all respiratory equipment, such as ventilators, compressors, and flowmeters, is functional and available to meet patient demand.
- Manage inventory levels for consumable supplies, parts, medical gases, and medications.
- Coordinate with the Respiratory Care Supervisor regarding storeroom, pharmacy, and outside vendor orders.
- Distribute portable oxygen cylinders to designated patient care areas.
- Interact with staff, visitors, and co-workers in a professional manner.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited respiratory program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong self-direction and motivation.
- One year of experience in materials handling, equipment servicing, or direct patient contact is highly desirable.
- An associate degree or equivalent is preferred.
