About the role#
The EEG Extern works within the Neurodiagnostic Department to provide limited care support. You will practice under the direct supervision of an ABRET registered electroneurodiagnostic technician. This role involves direct patient interaction and equipment management to assist neurodiagnostic practitioners in their daily duties.
What you'll do#
- Deliver limited EEG care support services to patients and their families.
- Perform equipment set-up and monitoring while under direct supervision.
- Prepare rooms for neurodiagnostic procedures and remove supplies after use.
- Monitor equipment surveillance and anticipate supply needs for patient admissions and discharges.
- Respond to emergency situations according to established hospital procedures.
- Assist with general operations in the department, equipment room, and EEG tech review area.
- Accept instruction and guidance from preceptors and clinically advanced personnel.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Neurodiagnostic school.
- A specialized diploma.
- Proficiency in measuring and applying EEG electrodes using the 10-20 rule.
- American Heart Association BLS (Basic Life Support) certification.
- American Heart Association Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED certification.
- Ability to lift and carry 40-50 lbs, including performing lateral patient transfers.
- Capability to stand or walk for the duration of a shift.

- Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: 16 hours per week, specifically Mondays and Fridays from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.
- Employment type: Per diem, variable time.
