About the role#
As a Respiratory Therapy Extern at Jefferson, you will support the respiratory care team by managing essential equipment and supplies. You will work under the supervision of the Technical Director and the Respiratory Care Supervisor to ensure that medical devices and inventory are ready to meet patient needs. This role involves regular interaction with staff and visitors in a hospital setting.
What you'll do#
- Process respiratory equipment by disassembling, washing, disinfecting, sterilizing, and reassembling items according to infection control policies.
- Maintain and monitor inventory levels for consumable supplies, parts, medical gases, and medications.
- Distribute portable oxygen cylinders to designated patient care areas.
- Ensure equipment such as ventilators, compressors, flowmeters, and gas regulators are functional and available.
- Collaborate with the Respiratory Care Supervisor to manage storeroom and pharmacy supplies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited respiratory program.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong self-direction and motivation.
- An associate degree or equivalent is desirable.
- One year of experience in materials handling, equipment servicing, or direct patient contact is highly preferred.
