About the role#
Tryon Medical Partners is hiring a Medical Assistant Intern for the Gastroenterology team in Pineville. This is a full-time, paid position with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. You will gain hands-on experience in a clinical setting by supporting the GI team with daily operations and patient care.
What you'll do#
- Escort patients to exam or procedure rooms and conduct interviews.
- Measure vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and weight.
- Collect patient history and perform screenings based on provider guidelines.
- Document all information in patient charts and ensure medical records are complete and organized.
- Assist patients with walking transfers, dressing, and specimen collection.
- Communicate with physicians and other health care professionals to coordinate care.
- Obtain and send patient medical records as needed.
- Administer injections after completing the required internal training certification.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in or a degree from an accredited undergraduate or graduate program with a focus on medicine.
- You must be on track to return to medical school or complete a Physician Assistant program.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work independently and manage tasks without supervision.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Current American Heart Association or American Red Cross BLS Certification.
- Completion of a TB test and Hepatitis B and Flu vaccine forms (or declination forms).
- Ability to lift and support up to 35 pounds and perform physical tasks like walking, standing, and bending.
