About the role#
This is a part-time, per diem role for a Radiologic Technologist Student at Owensboro Health Regional Hospital. You will work under the direct supervision of a registered Radiological Technologist to provide imaging services and support daily department operations. This position requires the ability to work in a demanding clinical environment and make sound, decisive judgments.
What you'll do#
- Assist with patient preparation by verifying identity, explaining procedures, and positioning patients for exams.
- Help technologists with routine diagnostic imaging, including setting up rooms, preparing supplies, and positioning equipment.
- Ensure patient comfort and safety throughout their visit.
- Apply radiation protection standards and the ALARA principle to minimize exposure.
- Prepare and administer contrast media or medications within your scope of practice.
- Document patient information accurately.
- Transport patients to and from imaging areas as needed.
- Follow all regulatory and accreditation standards, including HIPAA and OSHA.
What you'll need#
- High school diploma or GED.
- Current enrollment in a Radiography program.
- Ability to obtain a Temporary Student Radiography License through the Kentucky Board of Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (KBMIRT) within 30 days of hire.
- Ability to obtain BLS certification as a Healthcare Provider within 90 days of hire.
- Strong critical thinking skills.
