About the role#
As a Pharmacy Intern, you will apply your pharmacy school education to real-world practice. Under the direction of a preceptor, you will complete a training roadmap to gain experience in store, district, and regional operations. You will support the pharmacy team to ensure operations run smoothly while developing the skills necessary for a future role as a Pharmacist.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures for safe, accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Assist with inventory activities, including cycle counts, returns-to-stock, and medication deliveries.
- Provide patient care by counseling, fielding medical questions, and soliciting medical history under pharmacist supervision.
- Take telephonic prescriptions and call prescribers to clarify orders or facilitate medication changes.
- Educate patients on vaccines, monitor for adverse reactions, and document patient information.
- Offer coaching and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Maintain flexibility for scheduling and travel to other locations within the market as needed.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in an ACPE accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Valid intern or technician licensure as required by the state.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Strong active listening, communication, and mathematical skills.
- Ability to concentrate on tasks, pivot between responsibilities, and ensure label accuracy.
- 1+ years of experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service settings is preferred.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Physical ability to remain upright for extended periods, lift up to 20 lbs, and perform repetitive tasks like typing or reaching.
