About the role#
This is a part-time, PRN role for a student currently enrolled in an accredited Radiologic Technology program. You will work on-site at Merit Health River Region in Vicksburg, Mississippi. You will gain clinical experience by performing imaging procedures under the direct supervision of a registered Radiologic Technologist.
What you'll do#
- Perform radiologic examinations while supervised by a registered technologist.
- Position patients and select technical factors to produce high-quality diagnostic images.
- Explain procedures to patients to help them feel comfortable and informed.
- Follow all protocols for radiation safety, infection control, and PPE usage.
- Label images correctly using side markers.
- Document procedures in electronic health records and ensure charges are entered.
- Keep the imaging area clean and organized.
- Ask technologists and instructors for guidance to improve your clinical skills.
- Maintain professionalism and clear communication with patients and the healthcare team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Radiologic Technology program.
- Up to one year of clinical experience.
- Basic knowledge of radiographic equipment and procedures.
- Understanding of radiation safety and infection prevention.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with patients and staff.
- Ability to follow directions and apply clinical feedback.
- Basic computer literacy.
- Basic Life Support (BCLS) certification, which must be obtained within 30 days of hire.
