About the role#
This internship provides a pathway for US Non-Accredited Foreign Pharmacy Graduates to complete required US internship hours and prepare for a Pharmacist role. You will apply your education to real-world practice under the direction of a preceptor. This program requires you to complete your internship within 18 months and obtain Pharmacist licensure in Iowa within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Follow company SOPs and pharmacy workflow procedures at all workstations to manage patient health.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and care during interactions.
- Offer to counsel patients and field medical questions under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Take telephonic prescriptions from prescribers and clarify medication details.
- Provide coaching, training, and mentoring to pharmacy team members.
- Complete basic inventory activities, including cycle counts and returns.
- Deliver health care services such as immunizations and point-of-care testing.
- Complete Technician Immunizer training and certification.
- Educate patients on the importance of vaccines and monitor for adverse reactions.
What you'll need#
- Foreign Graduate degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- FPGEC certification.
- Valid intern or technician licensure, or be in the process of obtaining it.
- 1+ years of related work experience in pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service.
- Ability to become immunization certified.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Suite.
- Ability to complete required training within the designated timeframe.
- Flexibility to work in your home store and travel to other locations across the market.
