About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours while working in a retail pharmacy setting. This role is designed for foreign graduates to build upon their existing pharmacist education and develop the skills needed for US licensure. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to ensure a safe, effective, and compliant pharmacy environment. This is a full-time, on-site position based in Fairfield, California.
What you'll do#
- Provide patient care and counseling under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Process prescriptions, including translation of SIG codes, product selection, and labeling.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage inventory to ensure in-stock levels.
- Support the pharmacy manager in developing support staff and identifying business growth opportunities.
- Perform register transactions and assist customers with pharmacy or front-store questions.
- Maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA standards.
- Deliver additional health care services, such as immunizations, as allowed by state regulation.
- Communicate with field management and participate in store operational meetings.
- Keep the pharmacy department clean and organized.
What you'll need#
- A degree from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active Pharmacy Intern license in the state of California.
- Eligibility to immunize.
- Strong communication, presentation, and active listening skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Physical ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally.
- Skills in conflict resolution, time management, and emotional intelligence.
