About the role#
This internship provides foreign-trained pharmacy graduates the opportunity to complete required US internship hours. You will work under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist to develop your skills in patient care, practice management, and leadership. The program is designed to prepare you for pharmacist licensure exams. You must complete your internship within 18 months and obtain pharmacist licensure in the state within 120 days of finishing your required hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while maintaining patient safety and quality assurance.
- Greet customers, assist with questions, and perform register transactions.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, and labeling vials.
- Resolve third-party rejections and manage pharmacy inventory.
- Counsel patients under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist.
- Support the pharmacy manager in motivating staff and identifying business growth opportunities.
- Comply with all federal and state laws, as well as company policies regarding patient confidentiality.
- Deliver health care services, such as immunizations and testing, as permitted by state regulation.
What you'll need#
- A Doctorate (PharmD) or equivalent degree from a non-US accredited school of pharmacy.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state where the district is located.
- Strong communication, active listening, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work a schedule that includes nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in time management, emotional intelligence, and digital literacy.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs of force occasionally.
- A high school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and eligibility to immunize are preferred.
