About the role#
As an International Pharmacy Intern, you will complete your required US internship hours while working under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This role is designed for foreign pharmacy graduates to build upon their existing education and gain the skills necessary to pursue pharmacist licensure in the United States. You will participate in a mixed modality learning plan and are expected to complete your internship within 18 months. You must obtain pharmacist licensure in the state of California within 120 days of finishing your required intern hours.
What you'll do#
- Ensure a safe and effective retail pharmacy environment while delivering patient care.
- Greet customers, answer questions, and assist with pharmacy and front store needs.
- Process prescriptions, including translating SIG codes, selecting products, counting and labeling drugs, and capping vials.
- Resolve third-party rejections and perform prescription pick-up procedures.
- Support the supervising pharmacist in dispensing drugs, monitoring compliance, and counseling patients.
- Maintain inventory levels by following company policies and assisting with drug orders.
- Deliver health care services such as point-of-care testing and immunizations as permitted by law.
- Coordinate the training and development of pharmacy support staff and participate in store operational meetings.
What you'll need#
- A degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences from a non-US accredited college or school of pharmacy.
- Successful completion of the FPGEE and TOEFL exams.
- An active pharmacy intern license in the state of California.
- Strong communication, presentation, and active listening skills.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights and weekends.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Eligibility to immunize.
- Ability to lift and exert up to 20 lbs. of force occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently.
