About the role#
We are looking for a Mechanical Engineer Intern to join our team at the Deer Park Incinerator for Summer 2027. This is a full-time, on-site role where you will work alongside experienced professionals on projects that support our environmental and industrial services. You will gain practical experience in facility operations, safety protocols, and engineering processes while contributing to real business goals.
What you'll do#
- Prioritize health and safety by following all company policies and safe work practices.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of the Mechanical Integrity Program.
- Participate in corrosion monitoring and mitigation activities while learning about corrosion mechanisms.
- Gain exposure to Process Safety Management (PSM) principles, including Process Hazard Analysis (PHA), Management of Change (MOCs), operating procedures, and incident investigations.
- Assist with project coordination and review operational data to support efficient facility operations.
- Take a proactive approach to problem-solving and learning throughout the summer.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering at an accredited college or university.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and CAD software.
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a professional team environment.
- Knowledge of P&IDs and piping ISOs is preferred.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50lbs, climb ladders, stoop, bend, and stand for prolonged periods.
- Comfort working at heights and in various weather conditions.
- A genuine interest in the environmental services industry.
