About the role#
Clean Harbors is hiring two I&E Technician Interns for our East Chicago, Indiana facility. This full-time internship offers hands-on experience in environmental, energy, and industrial services. You will work alongside professionals to support real projects, learn about our operations, and develop practical skills for your career.
What you'll do#
- Prioritize health and safety by following all safe work practices and policies.
- Assist with troubleshooting malfunctions in instruments and control systems.
- Shadow technicians during preventative maintenance, calibrations, and inspections.
- Support tasks involving cabling, power distribution, switchgear, and motor control centers.
- Gain exposure to medium voltage electrical systems and substation equipment.
- Maintain accurate logs and records.
- Verify and update technical documentation, including schematics and P&IDs.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a two-year I&E program, electrical engineering, or a related field.
- Proficiency in MS Office, specifically Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter.
- Effective communication skills.
- Knowledge of P&IDs and electrical schematics is preferred.
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb ladders, bend, and stand for long periods.
- Comfort working at heights and in various weather conditions.
