About the role#
As a Process Engineering Intern, you will work in a food manufacturing environment. You will partner with Operations, Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to identify and solve manufacturing constraints. This role involves owning or supporting projects from problem definition through data collection, analysis, implementation, and validation. You will focus on real manufacturing challenges, including throughput, yield, reliability, and operational efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Partner with Processing Operations to identify and solve manufacturing losses.
- Analyze process data to spot trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
- Lead or support projects focused on yield, productivity, downtime reduction, and utility usage.
- Spend significant time on the manufacturing floor to observe processes and work with operators.
- Use root-cause analysis to troubleshoot recurring issues.
- Create metrics, tools, and dashboards to help teams monitor performance.
- Design and execute trials to determine if changes deliver expected improvements.
- Build business cases that translate process improvements into financial impact.
- Present project progress and findings to plant leadership.
- Develop documentation and control plans to ensure improvements are maintained.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Chemical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Completion of at least two years of engineering coursework is preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Comfort working with data, including experience with Excel and data visualization tools.
- Willingness to spend significant time in an active manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work collaboratively with operators, frontline leaders, and engineers.
- Ability to take ownership of a project from identification to implementation.
- Strong communication skills to present technical information clearly.
