About the role#
The Plant Operations Internship provides hands-on experience on the manufacturing plant floor. You will learn to apply data to make observations, spot efficiency trends, and troubleshoot issues. This role is a chance to build real-life skills in your field of study.
What you'll do#
- Study current manufacturing equipment to evaluate line performance and operational efficiency.
- Analyze existing processes and develop ideas for improvement.
- Assist with improvement projects like Kaizen, Six Sigma, and Lean Manufacturing.
- Use systems to make reporting accurate, timely, and insightful.
- Create performance standards and metrics.
- Implement analysis processes to track operational performance.
- Handle other duties as assigned.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in a Bachelor degree program in Engineering, Food Science, Business, or a related field.
- Interest in working within food manufacturing.
- Experience working both independently and in collaborative, team-oriented settings.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Completion of at least one year of major-specific coursework is preferred.
- Ability to work in a plant environment that may be loud, hot, cold, or wet.
- Physical ability to sit, stand, walk, and climb stairs for eight hours per day.
