About the role#
As a Performance Improvement and Engineering Intern, you will work directly on manufacturing performance, equipment reliability, and waste reduction. You will partner with Operations, Maintenance, and Engineering teams to solve chronic problems and automate workflows. You will lead a measurable improvement project and present your results and sustainment plans to site leadership.
What you'll do#
- Analyze OEE, downtime, waste, quality, and labor losses to prioritize actions.
- Partner with teams on root cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment and process losses.
- Support PM optimization, equipment assessments, rebuild plans, and reliability improvements.
- Assist with autonomous maintenance deployment, including defect tagging, visual controls, and standard work.
- Lead projects that improve OEE, material flow, or labor productivity.
- Conduct floor observations, time studies, and data collection to support troubleshooting and implementation.
- Build dashboards, automated KPI reports, and data-collection tools to improve decision speed.
- Provide regular project updates and a final presentation for site leadership.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Industrial Engineering, Operations, or a related technical field.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Excel.
- Familiarity with Power BI or Power Automate is a plus, though we value a willingness to learn.
- Comfort working on the manufacturing floor and collaborating with operators, technicians, and engineers.
- A hands-on, curious, and results-driven approach.
- A continuous improvement mindset and strong sense of ownership.
