About the role#
This internship provides exposure to forensic accounting and litigation support. You will work alongside our team to assist with case preparation, data analysis, and client service. This is a full-time, paid position based in our Bakersfield office for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Review and summarize federal and state tax returns for individuals, partnerships, and corporations.
- Assist with forensic, valuation, and appraisal analyses, including data entry for expert witness exhibits.
- Help the discovery team inventory and reconcile documents for submission to attorneys, courts, and clients.
- Build your understanding of tax law, audit methodologies, and accounting frameworks in a litigation setting.
- Maintain strong relationships with client staff and commit to providing responsive, high-quality service.
- Use Microsoft Office tools like Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint to complete project tasks.
- Uphold professional standards and client confidentiality at all times.
What you'll need#
- Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with a preference for those planning to achieve CPA eligibility.
- Strong interpersonal, analytical, and project management skills.
- Ability to think independently, multi-task, and solve problems within a team.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills for both internal and external interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Relevant experience in accounting, auditing, or investigative services is preferred.
- Active participation in student organizations or prior work experience in the field is a plus.
