About the role#
The CMU Rales Fellows Program seeks Seasonal Application Readers to evaluate applications for the 2027 cohort. This is a part-time, fixed-term position running through February 2027. Readers work remotely and typically commit to 10-15 hours per week, with the possibility of increasing to 17.5 hours based on volume. You will help ensure each application receives a fair and comprehensive review.
What you'll do#
- Attend one virtual 1-hour training session in early-mid December 2026 to review program goals and evaluation criteria.
- Independently review assigned applications using a provided rubric and scoring guide between December and January.
- Submit feedback and scores to assist the selection committee.
- Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all applicant information.
- Interact with a varied population of internal and external partners.
What you'll need#
- A graduate degree.
- Experience with selective and holistic graduate admissions.
- The ability to evaluate applicants holistically and align your feedback with program criteria.
- Experience mentoring or advising students pursuing graduate study is strongly preferred.
- Reliable internet access and proficiency with Gmail, Google Suite, and Zoom.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment background check.

- This role is remote for candidates residing in Pennsylvania, New York, Virginia, or Washington, D.C.
- This is a paid, part-time, seasonal position.
