The Financial Assistant reports to the Senior Finance Manager within the Division of Student Affairs. This position provides essential financial services and supports departmental leadership by managing financial transactions, ensuring policy compliance, and maintaining accurate documentation for an assigned portfolio.
What you'll do#
- Process departmental purchasing card activities, including reconciliation and managing a high volume of transactions with competing deadlines.
- Handle purchase orders, invoices, journal entries, and expense reports for departmental accounts.
- Communicate with purchasers, students, staff, and external vendors to ensure compliance with university financial policies and procedures.
- Serve as a liaison with internal partners, including Accounts Payable and Procurement Services.
What you'll need#
- A High School diploma or GED is required; a Bachelor's degree in Accounting is preferred. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered.
- 3-5 years of experience in bookkeeping, accounts payable, data entry, or administrative support.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is preferred.
- Strong organizational, time management, and planning skills with the ability to prioritize multiple high-priority demands.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to maintain a high level of customer service and integrity when handling sensitive data.
