About the role#
As an IS Data Engineering Student, you will work with data analysts, business systems analysts, and industry experts. You will deliver data pipelines and products for analytics and data science. You will extract data from multiple sources, then transform, combine, validate, and load it into data lakehouses or applications for visualization.
What you'll do#
- Build and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using Databricks to support enterprise data needs.
- Develop and manage data lakehouse solutions for efficient storage, retrieval, and modeling.
- Fine-tune performance for queries and data pipelines to ensure rapid delivery of critical data.
- Partner with data scientists, analysts, and business stakeholders to meet business objectives.
- Recommend and implement improvements to enhance data engineering workflows and capabilities.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment in the 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year of an Information Systems diploma or degree program, or studies in Computer Science, Data Science, Computer Engineering, Mathematics, or Statistics.
- An eagerness to learn and grow in cloud-based data technologies.
- Basic experience or a strong willingness to develop skills in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
- An understanding of MLOps, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to convey technical concepts to various audiences.
Location & details#
- Location: Calgary, Alberta.
- Term availability: Winter 2027 and Summer 2027.
- Work schedule: Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day.
- Modality: On-site at our head office.
- Employment status: Full-time paid position.
