About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship for an Electrical Engineering student within the Major Projects team. You will work on engineering and design tasks for mining operations. The term lasts 8 months, beginning in January 2027.
What you'll do#
- Support lead engineers and teams in the instrumentation, controls, and electrical disciplines.
- Solve engineering and design problems using your technical aptitude.
- Prepare calculations and technical drawings.
- Apply industry standards and specifications to project work.
- Review vendor drawings and project documentation.
- Perform site inspections and gather information as needed.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor’s degree program in Electrical Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- A valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license or equivalent with a clean abstract.
- Willingness to work in the field, including potential night shifts and on-call duties.

- The position is on-site.
- Primary work locations include the Calgary head office or Oil Sands sites near Fort McMurray, Alberta.
- This is a safety-sensitive position.
- Work location may change based on business needs, requiring travel to Oil Sands sites for extended periods.
