About the role#
The Marketing Student Assistant supports the Public Relations, Communications, and Marketing Department at Cal Poly Associated Students, Inc. You will help develop and implement marketing plans, manage the ASI brand identity, and coordinate promotional efforts for various programs and services. This role involves acting as a brand representative at campus events and facilitating outreach across the university community.
What you'll do#
- Create original content for social media and digital platforms like e-newsletters and press releases.
- Write, edit, and review copy for blogs, email communications, and presentations.
- Assist with market research, including surveys and focus groups.
- Coordinate with graphic designers, photographers, and videographers on marketing campaigns.
- Distribute marketing materials and set up promotional displays across campus.
- Provide customer service and act as a liaison between ASI and campus groups.
- Help plan special promotions, events, and projects.
- Attend mandatory meetings and maintain regular office hours.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment at Cal Poly (minimum 6 units for undergraduates, 4 units for graduate students).
- Strong organizational, planning, and multitasking skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication abilities.
- Experience in marketing, communications, public relations, or social media.
- A self-starter attitude with a focus on detail and customer service.
- Preference for majors in Marketing, Journalism, or Public Relations.
- Preference for candidates with photography skills or prior experience with ASI programs.
Location & details#
- Location: San Luis Obispo, California.
- Work modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $16.90 per hour.
- Requirements: Summer term availability and a commitment to at least two consecutive terms of work.
